GENEBRE Stainless Steel Ball Valves
2-piece full bore · AISI 316 · PN 63 · BSP / NPT thread · ISO 5211 · CE / PED 2014/68/EU
1. Manufacturer Profile

GENEBRE – a Spanish industrial valve manufacturer with over 60 years of experience. Today, GENEBRE components are installed in water supply, energy, food processing and chemical industry facilities across more than 70 countries worldwide.
The stainless steel valve range was designed specifically for demanding industrial conditions – where corrosion, temperature fluctuations and continuous pressure create real operational challenges. The AISI 316 alloy with molybdenum ensures longevity in chloride, saline and aggressive media environments.
Every valve enters the European market with a CE mark under the PED 2014/68/EU Directive – document-backed compliance mandatory for industrial facilities across the EU.

2. Construction – 2-piece full bore ball valve
The 2-piece full bore body is a standard industrial construction that allows maintenance without removing the pipeline, while ensuring minimal pressure drop due to full bore passage.
Construction type
| Parameter | Characteristic | Practical benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Body parts | 2-piece body | Can be disassembled without removing the pipeline |
| Bore | Full bore | ID = pipe DN, minimal pressure drop |
| Operation | 90° ball rotation | Fast on/off, suitable for actuators |
| Actuator mount | ISO 5211 flange | Direct mounting with electric or pneumatic actuators |
Materials
| Component | Material | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Body | AISI 316 (1.4408 casting) | Cast alloy |
| Ball | AISI 316 (1.4401) | Polished, contact with PTFE seat |
| Thread / connections | AISI 316 | — |
| Seal (seat) | PTFE | Chemically resistant, food-grade media compatible |
| Stem | AISI 316 | — |
The 316 alloy contains 2–3% Mo (molybdenum) – significantly higher resistance to pitting corrosion in chloride environments. Always specify AISI 316 where the media contains chlorides, saline solutions or marine conditions apply.
3. Operating Parameters
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Nominal pressure | PN 63 (threaded DN 8–50) |
| Operating temperature | –20 °C to +180 °C (PTFE seat) |
| Media | Water, steam, air, oil, industrial fluids, drinking water |
| Connection | BSP (ISO 228) or NPT thread |
| DN range | DN 8 – DN 50 (threaded series) |
| Actuation | Manual / actuator-ready (ISO 5211) |
4. Technical Standards and Certifications
| Standard | Scope | Relevance |
|---|---|---|
| PED 2014/68/EU | CE marking | Mandatory for most industrial installations in the EU |
| EN ISO 228 | BSP thread standard | Compatibility with European piping systems |
| ISO 9001 | Quality management system | Process control guarantee |
| EN 331 | Gas valves | Verify per specific model |
Drinking water suitability
GENEBRE declares that its valves and taps are suitable for use with drinking water. Application areas include: water supply infrastructure, food and beverage industry, hotels, hospitals and schools.
5. Installation and Operating Notes
|
1
|
On/off service only – this valve is not designed for throttling or flow regulation. Use dedicated control valves for flow regulation. |
|
2
|
PTFE seat limits – resistant to most industrial media, but not suitable for concentrated acids or alkalis. Alternative: RPTFE or metal seat. |
|
3
|
Actuator mounting – before assembly, verify the ISO 5211 flange size matches the actuator manufacturer's specification. |
|
4
|
Threaded connections – use PTFE tape or anaerobic sealants appropriate to the system media and operating pressure. |
|
5
|
High temperature – above +130 °C, verify the maximum PTFE seat temperature rating in the specific series datasheet. |
6. Application Areas
| Industry | Suitable media | Additional requirements |
|---|---|---|
| Water supply and wastewater | Water, drinking water | Drinking water certificate required |
| Food and beverage | Water, CIP solutions, brines | Verify EC 1935/2004 compliance per series |
| Industrial processes | Steam, air, oil, hydraulics | Standard PN 63 version suitable |
| Marine / outdoor | Condensate, moisture, saline solutions | AISI 316 mandatory – not AISI 304 |

8. Valve Selection Checklist
Before ordering, the engineer must specify the following parameters. If you have questions – info@elementa.lt – we will advise based on your system requirements.
| # | Parameter | Question |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Media | Water, steam, chemicals, food, gas? |
| 2 | Operating pressure | Max bar or PN class in the system? |
| 3 | Temperature | Min/max °C during operation? |
| 4 | Connection | Thread (BSP/NPT), flange, butt weld? |
| 5 | Actuation | Manual / electric actuator / pneumatic? |
| 6 | Special standards | Drinking water? ATEX? Food industry? |
| 7 | Material | Is AISI 304 sufficient or is AISI 316 required? |
